Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026. Applies to snowsync.us and the SnowSync product.
SnowSync is operated by Structural Consensus. This page explains what information we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short on purpose. If something here is unclear, write to [email protected].
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account identifier. When you sign in with an email and password we receive your email address. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your Google password.
- Profile and access. Your plan or tier, your membership status, and answers you choose to give in sign-up or intake forms.
- Email subscriptions. If you join a mailing list we store your email address, whether you confirmed it, and a hashed form of the network address the request came from, so we can prevent abuse.
- Usage information. Pages you open and actions you take on the site, the time, and general browser and device information. We use our own analytics for this. This site also shows advertising provided by Google AdSense. Some pages link to products at outdoor retailers such as Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, and we may earn a commission on purchases made through other retailers' links; we count clicks on those links ourselves, and the retailer may set its own cookies once you are on its site.
- Content you submit. Files, text or questions you send to a tool or an AI feature are processed to produce your result. We record usage details such as the time, the feature used and the amount of processing, so we can measure and bill usage fairly. The text of your requests and answers is not kept unless you turn on the answer cache in your account settings; with it on, your questions and answers may be stored so that similar requests answer faster, and you can turn it off again at any time.
- Security log. Each sign-in attempt and session is logged with the site, your account if known, a hashed form of your network address, your country, browser and the result of our bot check, for 90 days. The plain network address is kept only for blocked or suspicious events, for 30 days. Actions our staff take on accounts are logged for two years.
- Payments. If you buy a plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a record of the purchase and a customer reference. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Messages. Email you send to [email protected] or [email protected], so that we can answer it.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To provide the product, including the features your plan includes.
- To answer support requests, with your account details at hand so the answer is quick.
- To send email you asked for. Every list email has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand which parts of the site work and which do not, and to fix problems.
- To prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
Who processes it for us
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with services that run the product for us, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Google (Firebase Authentication, Google Cloud) for sign-in and account storage.
- Cloudflare for network security, content delivery and email forwarding.
- Stripe for payments.
- An email delivery provider for messages we send you.
- Google AdSense, which serves the advertising shown on this site.
- Amazon Associates and other retailers' affiliate programs, for the product links on some pages.
- AI model providers, when a feature needs a model we do not run ourselves. Where we can, requests run on our own servers.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
Accounts are per product
Structural Consensus runs several products. Your account on SnowSync belongs to SnowSync. Signing up here does not create an account on another product, and we do not combine profiles across products.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons. Usage records are kept in aggregate form.
Your choices
- See, correct or export the information we hold about you.
- Delete your account.
- Unsubscribe from any mailing list at any time.
- Remove this site's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
To make any of these requests, write to [email protected] from the email address on your account. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies and local storage entries that are needed to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. This site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com, and learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Security
Traffic to this site is encrypted. Access to account data is limited to what is needed to run and support the product. Security records are kept in a separate store that only our staff can read, for the periods stated above, and are deleted automatically after them. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you.
Children
SnowSync is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will tell account holders by email.
