The densest cluster of ski areas in the Sierra Nevada, ringing Lake Tahoe and lining Donner Summit on Interstate 80. Palisades, Northstar and the Donner Summit hills sit on the north side; Heavenly, Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe serve the south shore.
Boreal Mountain Resort has the most mapped runs here (300). The steepest named run we have mapped is Ramarah's at Heavenly, averaging 85% over its length. About 35% of the rated runs are advanced or harder.
