Send us your drone footage of the mountain

Clips with a flight log become 3D scenes you can fly through, placed on the real terrain, with your name on them. Fly only where the resort and the law allow it.

How it works

  1. You fly a slow pass over a run, a bowl or a base area and keep the flight log (the DJI .SRT file next to the video).
  2. You upload the clip and the log here. Your browser checks them and draws your track on the map before anything is sent.
  3. We turn the frames into a 3D Gaussian splat on our own GPU and fit it to the lidar ground, using your log to place it.
  4. It appears in that mountain's 3D view and on the community map, credited to you. You can ask us to take it down at any time.

What makes a good clip

  • A slow orbit around one feature, or parallel passes like mowing a lawn, 60 to 100 m above the ground.
  • 30 seconds to 5 minutes, 2.7K or 4K, the camera tilted down 30 to 60 degrees.
  • The subtitle / flight-log file switched on (DJI: Video caption), so we can place the scene.
  • Trees, rocks, lifts and buildings reconstruct well. Open, flat, fresh snow often does not: we cannot promise a scene from every clip.

Fly legally

  • United States: FAA Part 107, or the recreational rules (TRUST certificate, under 400 ft, in sight).
  • Canada: a Transport Canada drone certificate. Mexico: AFAC registration.
  • Most ski resorts ban flights over their terrain without written permission. Ask the resort first; we refuse footage from a resort that bans it.
  • No people close enough to be recognised. We review every clip before it goes anywhere.

Where we want footage

Dashed amber: areas we would like a scene of. Blue, purple, green: footage in, processing, live. Tap an area for its resort.
